How do I make sure I am running the latest Operating System for my hardware?

This article discusses how to check which OS you are running and how to run updates if needed.

Windows:

Which version am I running?:

  1. Select the Start  button > Settings  > System  > About and open About settings
  2. Under Device specifications > System type, see if you’re running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.
  3. Under Windows specifications, check which edition and version of Windows your device is running.

Check for Updates:

  • Windows 10 offers you the choice of when and how to get the latest updates to keep your device running smoothly and securely. To manage your options and see available updates, select Check for Windows updates. Or select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & Security Windows Update.

  2. Select “General”
  3. Tap “About”. The version will be listed next to Software Version.

  4. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your device into power before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.
